Amakhosi are currently in fourth place on the league standings with eight victories from their opening 16 games.

But while they are 16 points adrift of leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have lost just once this season, Chiefs are only two points behind second-placed Orlando Pirates.

Ngcobo scooped the Goal of the Month award for his screamer in the 2-0 victory over Maritzburg United in December and is confident of more of the same after a good run of form.

He said on IOL: “We want to do well as a team going forward to fight and make sure we win more games.

“We want to make sure that we win more games so that we can get closer to number one (Sundowns). We just have to work hard.

“We closed the 2021 calendar on a high note as a team. We were working very hard, playing for one another and helping each other.

“We performed well as a unit and we are looking forward to keeping the same tempo and attitude.”
