Sunday 30 August

Free State Stars 14/10
Draw 2/1
JDR Stars 2/1
Free State Stars have been inconsistent in the last five games with two wins and two defeats while their opponents who are placed just one position above them on the log finally returned to winning ways after beating promotion-chasing Ajax Cape Town 2-1 last time out, snapping a four-match winless run. Both teams have big match temperament but suffer against the so-called minnows. I foresee a share of the spoils.

Ajax Cape Town 9/20
Draw 28/10
Mbombela United 13/2
If Ajax are to stand a realistic chance of gaining automatic promotion, they must win by a huge margin and hope Swallows who currently top the standings by a mere one-goal advantage don’t match it. The Urban Warriors let themselves down when they lost to JDR Stars the last time out, relinquishing the top spot and they now have to do it the hard way.

On the other hand, goal advantage suggests Mbombela United can’t be relegated even if they lose and the teams below them win. Put your money on Ajax.

Jomo Cosmos 15/10
Draw 21/10
University of Pretoria 17/10
Jomo Cosmos are one point above the relegation zone and the best way to avoid relegation is to win their game because they can’t control how relegation-threatened TS Sporting will perform in their encounter.

University of Pretoria have nothing to play for and they’re winless in the last five games. I’ll be brave here and back the mighty Ezenkosi to amass maximum points.

Real Kings 11/10
Draw 2/1
Richards Bay 5/2
Real Kings who currently occupy fourth place kissed their hopes of playing off for PSL promotion in midweek when their-placed Tshakhuma won their game. The Magic Boys are dejected and really have nothing to fight for which is the same situation their KZN counterparts are currently facing. Expect a draw here.

Royal Eagles 28/10
Draw 21/10
Steenberg United 1/1
Royal Eagles were relegated many weeks ago and they have been winless ever since. They come up against a Steenberg side who are winless in 12 games but are safe from relegation, thanks to their superb form in the earlier part of the season. Get on the draw here.

Uthongathi 1/1
Draw 2/1
TS Galaxy 3/1
Uthongathi’s diabolical form in recent weeks has seen them lose ground on the teams chasing promotion. They’re currently 10 points off the pace, having failed to record a single victory in the last 11 games. TS Galaxy who are also not so impressive have won one of their last five games. A draw is on the cards.

Cape Umoya United 12/10
Draw 2/1
TS Sporting 24/10
Cape Umoya United have been stalemate specialists of late with four of their last five games ending in draws. TS Sporting have to fight tooth and nail for a much-needed victory if they’re to stand a chance to leapfrog Jomo Cosmos into 14th place and safety. The strugglers have also drawn four times in the last five matches. Why not expect drawing teams to draw against each other!

Swallows 9/10
Draw 2/1
Tshakhuma 33/10
This is a huge game for Moroka Swallows as they stand a chance to gain automatic qualification. The Dube Birds have to win and hope Ajax fail to amass maximum points or the goal difference still favours them at the end of the match. Izinyoni Ezibomvu Ngenkani head into this game off the back off a four-match winning streak. Tshakhuma can’t mathematically finish above or below their current third spot and they have already sealed a place in PSL promotional play-offs. I think they will save players for those crucial games. Back Swallows who still have something to play for.

Treble @7/1
Ajax 9/20
Swallows 9/10
Jomo Cosmos 15/10
