With Erling Haaland likely out for the remainder of the year, it'll be interesting to see whether or not Dortmund can keep pace with Bayern in teh race for the Bundesliga. This week, Bayern are away at Union Berlinb, Dortmund host Koln and RB Leipzig travel to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Friday 29 October
Hoffenheim 13/20 | Draw 31/10 | Hertha Berlin 36/10 (20:30)
Hertha Berlin will be coming into this encounter high on confidence after picking up their first clean sheet of the season and three points against a solid Borussia Monchengladbach. While the away team might have scored the second-most goals conceded in the league (21) and an awful record defending set pieces, conceding nine to date, they were able to come together and snatch a win. Hoffenheim, on the other hand, were thumped 4-0 in front of a packed Allianz and will be licking their wounds through the week. The home team is tipped to bounce back.
Saturday 30 October
Borussia Dortmund 9/20 | Draw 4/1 | Cologne 48/10 (15:30)
I thought Borussia Dortmund could turn a corner defensively, but they have kept just one clean sheet in 14 competitive matches this season and came ever so close, only to concede a penalty goal. A decisive 3-1 away win over Arminia Bielefeld last time out eases the pain on the Champions League defeat to Ajax, and this game will be preparation for the Black and Yellows to welcome Ajax to the Signal Iduna Park. Cologne did well in their last fixture to secure a draw after going down by two goals to nil inside the first 20 minutes, but a poor first-half was absolutely incumbent of their current form. Although Dortmund are without talisman Erling Haaland among others, they still have the attacking play style they use to get him on the ball and will find the net. Back the home to keep the pressure on Bayern.
Bayer Leverkusen 9/10 | Draw 26/10 | Wolfsburg 28/10 (15:30)
A torrid run of fixtures, one win in 10 matches for Wolfsburg, saw the termination of Mark van Bommel’s employment. While their overall game hasn’t been awful, the goals have been difficult to come by and Die Wolfe have conceded more readily than they did when Oliver Glasner was at the helm. Bayer Leverkusen drew last time out to Cologne and sat rather deep after picking up two early goals which probably cost them all three points. Maintaining pressure might be the key to the Billy Goats’ playing style and keeping the pressure on an already crumbling Wolfsburg will not be difficult. Leverkusen to take all three points is on the cards.
Union Berlin 6/1 | Draw 46/10 | Bayern Munich 1/3 (15:30)
Union Berlin are tied with Inter Milan for the longest-running unbeaten home record of any team in the top five leagues with 21 games undefeated. But this time they face Bayern Munich who have scored 19 goals in their last five fixtures in all competitions. Last season this exact fixture saw a share of the spoils with a goal apiece in each encounter. Bayern Munich cannot afford to drop points, with Dortmund hot on their heels, just a point adrift. A Bayern Munich matchbet is never bad on your slip but adding under 3.5 is the money call at 17/10.
Freiburg 9/20 | Draw 37/10 | Greuther Furth 54/10 (15:30)
Freiburg put Mark van Bommel out of a job with a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg in their last encounter, and coming up against the Bundesliga’s whipping boys Greuther Furth, we have a banker for the weekend. Furth have only ever beaten the home team on two separate occasions more than a decade ago in 16 total attempts. I do not foresee the away team garnering any success in this matchup let alone this season. Freiburg in all your multiples.
Arminia Bielefeld 49/20 | Draw 23/10 | Mainz 11/10 (15:30)
Arminia Bielefeld couldn’t find a goal from open play, losing 3-1 to Borussia Dortmund and were lucky to receive a penalty as conciliation late in the second half. Mainz were quality and dominated their last game with a 4-1 win over Augsburg. Both teams have been struggling for form, but more so the home team now without a win this season. Mainz, on the other hand, seemed to have turned a corner in their 4-1 thumping of Augsburg after going winless in their last four fixtures. The away team are not certainties, but money on them could be money well spent.
Eintracht Frankfurt 26/10 | Draw 29/10 | RB Leipzig 9/10 (18:30)
Consistency is the buzzword surrounding Eintracht Frankfurt, and after beating Bayern, losing to Hertha, bouncing back against Olympiakos, and losing to Bochum last time out the question is ‘what version of Eintracht will we see’ against RB Leipzig. The Red Bulls are unbeaten in their last six Bundesliga matches conceding just three. Jesse Marsch seems to be finding the rhythm with Leipzig and with Christopher Nkunku already firing and Dominik Szoboszlai getting back into scoring fashion they’re looking a solid team again. The away team might not find it easy, but a victory is still the bet to make.
Sunday 31 October
Augsburg 37/20 | Draw 23/10 | Stuttgart 15/10 (16:30)
Sunday’s first of two fixtures sees 16th-placed Augsburg welcome 13th-placed Stuttgart. If there’s a moment to look back on where Augsburg can say they saved their season, this will be the game. After losing their last matchup 4-1 to Mainz, the writing is slowly starting to appear on the wall. Stuttgart, on the other hand, know that if they can find a win in this fixture, their heads will be above the water for yet another week. Stuttgart won both ties last season, and with form on their side, are likely to further their record against Augsburg. Stuttgart will not lose this game, and a Draw/Win Double Chance on the away team with Totals Over 2.5 at 19/10, looks a solid bet. I’m on it and you should be too.
Borussia Monchengladbach 1/3 | Draw 44/10 | Bochum 7/1 (18:30)
Bochum stunned Eintracht Frankfurt with a 2-0 goal victory last time out and Danny Blum refused to celebrate when he netted home the opening goal against his former club. A solid performance in all departments, including Manuel Riemann who stopped a penalty before the half-time whistle. Borussia Monchengladbach were a certainty in my eyes, but somehow couldn’t find the back of the net, losing 1-0 to the Old Lady. Bochum’s two wins on the bounce leaves them high on confidence and just one point below this week’s opponents, there’s added motivation. A Win/Draw Double Chance on the away team yields some great return at 7/4.
