Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to build on their first Premiership win of the season when they lock horns with Free State Stars at Goble Park on Tuesday night.
Amakhosi had gone five games without a win in all competitions before they beat Cape Town City 4-1 in the Mother City on Saturday.
The Glamour Boys’ only other victory of the campaign came against Ea Lla Koto in the MTN8 quarter-finals last month, although SuperSport United ended their run at the next hurdle.
Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas will be hoping his team have turned the corner after the international break, which gave him more time to work with the squad he inherited during the off-season.
“The best Kaizer Chiefs is still to come,” the Italian told KickOff. “We needed that time – we had two weeks at our disposal, and used last week to improve and fix our mistakes.
“The boys trained very well and I was happy as all the guys worked hard. So many good players like Lebo Manyama, ‘Dax’, George Maluleka and Mario Booysen are now available, so the real Kaizer Chiefs is coming.”
Stars, meanwhile, have made a disappointing start to 2018/19 after surprising many by finishing sixth in the top flight last term.
Luc Eymael’s side went down 1-0 to Polokwane City on Saturday which extended their win-less run in the league to three matches and left them second from bottom in the table.
The Bethlehem outfit have recorded one win thus far, they saw off Maritzburg United 2-1 in the second round of action after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Bidvest Wits on the opening weekend.
In team news, the visitors must do without Leonardo Castro and Erick Mathoho for the trip to the Free State.
Striker Castro was forced off with an ankle injury at the Cape Town Stadium this past weekend, while defender Mathoho also sustained a groin problem against City.
Joseph Molangoane is closing in on his comeback for Chiefs after doing some work in the gym.
