PSL: Week 15 Preview

Week 15 Preview

Our football pundit previews the PSL week 15 action which kicks off on Friday 15 December 2017.

Orlando Pirates missed an opportunity to top the standings when they relinquished a 1-0 lead to AmaZulu last week while Kaizer Chiefs returned to winning ways, beating struggling Platinum Stars 1-0.
There are two matches happening in Durban this week, the KZN derby between Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United and the crunch clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Ajax Cape Town. Let’s preview week 15 fixtures.

Friday 15 December

Cape Town City 21/20 | Draw 19/10 | AmaZulu 28/10
Benni McCarthy’s Cape Town City head into this one off the back of a four-match winless run. Their main problem has been dropping points from winning positions. Last season’s Telkom Knockout Midfielder of the Season, Aubrey Ngoma is back from injury and scored in their most recent outing, the 1-1 draw with SuperSport United.
AmaZulu have drawn their last four matches, including stalemates with Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. They have shown abilities to hold their own but they lack killer instinct. I think Cape Town City will edge this one at home.
Saturday 16 December

Chippa United 8/10 Draw 2/1 | Polokwane City 15/4
After going 10 games unbeaten in the league since Teboho Moloi took over the interim coaching reigns, Chippa United finally tripped against Ajax Cape Town last week, going down 1-0. Moloi was announced the PSL coach of the month for November and Chippa Mpengesi has promised to give him a permanent contract.
Things aren’t going so well for Bernard Molekwa’s Polokwane City as they are now 14th on the standings and tied on 12 points with Platinum Stars who are in the relegation zone and one point behind them. Chippa United are likely to win the match.
Bidvest Wits 1/1 Draw 22/10 | Platinum Stars 22/10
Bidvest Wits have just been crowned the Telkom Knockout champions but their league form has been poor. They have only won two of their 13 matches so far. A victory could see them moving off the bottom of the table.
Platinum Stars are second from the bottom, just one point above their opponents. Roger De Sa’s men will have to dig deep to avoid defeat away from home against the wounded defending league champions. Get on Wits to come away with maximum points.

Kaizer Chiefs 5/10 Draw 5/2 | Ajax Cape Town 11/2
Kaizer Chies finally ended their four-match winless streak last week, beating struggling Platinum Stars 1-0. Steve Komphela did the unusual, starting Siphiwe Tshabalala on the bench but the gamble paid off as the player came on in the second stanza to score the winner.
Ajax put Chippa United’s 10-match unbeaten run to an end last week, beating them 1-0. But prior to that, the Urban Warriors had gone five games without a victory. My money is on Kaizer Chiefs to triumph at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
QUAD @ 10/1
Cape Town City Win 21/20
Chippa United Win 8/10
Bidvest Wits Win 1/1
Kaizer Chiefs Win 5/10
