Saturday 22 August

Polokwane City 17/10
Draw 21/10
Highlands Park 16/10
Polokwane City are rooted to the foot of the Absa Premiership table after two disappointing results. Rise And Shine relinquished a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Kaizer Chiefs and followed that up by a 2-0 defeat at the hands of SuperSport United.

Highlands Park held their own against title-chasing Mamelodi Sundowns holding them to a 1-all draw in their first match after lockdown. They should fancy their chances against the league’s whipping boys. My money is on the visitors.

Baroka 29/20
Draw 19/10
Chippa United 2/1
Coach Lehlohonolo Seema has collected one out of a possible six points in his first two matches in charge of Chippa United. He’s desperate for a win to avoid Chippa Mpengesi’s infamous axe against a Baroka side who are in danger of relegation. The visitors have drawn both their games since the return of football. This should be a low-scoring affair ending with a share of the spoils.

Sunday 23 August

Cape Town City 24/10
Draw 21/10
Orlando Pirates 23/20
Cape Town City have impressed me since the return of football despite losing 1-0 to Stellenbosch in midweek. The Citizens should feel hard done by a dubious offside call against them and bad luck as they tried every trick in the book to amass maximum points their crosstown rivals defended for their lives and utilised their chance which arose from a corner kick. City have recently beaten Sundowns and Chippa United.

Orlando Pirates have drawn all their games after lockdown and have scored one goals in their last five matches. The Citizens should be too strong for a struggling side. I foresee the hosts winning this one.

Kaizer Chiefs 9/20
Draw 29/10
Stellenbosch 57/10
The table toppers had no answer’s to Bloemfontein Celtic’s incisive attacks in midweek and they ended up losing 3-1 but prior to that they stage a dramatic comeback from 2-0 down to beat Polokwane City 3-2.

On the other hand, Stellenbosch shocked Cape Town City 1-0 in the first ever iKapa derby held outside the Western Cape. The outcome of this match will be determined by how well they deal with the hosts’ aerial threat as they struggled the last time these two sides met. I think Chiefs will repeat what they did in the first leg and collect three points.
