Former head coach Pablo Franco Martin was sacked last week after picking up three losses from the club’s opening three Betway Premiership games of the new season.

A number of top names were thought to be in line for the post, not least former boss Benni McCarthy, as well as Magesi coach Clinton Larsen and Cape Town Spurs’ Ernst Middendorp.

But the club have opted for former Richards Bay mentor Vilakazi, who had recently been appointed Usuthu Diski Challege coach, and former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Zwane – who leaves his current post as Amakhosi reserve team coach.

An AmaZulu statement read: “Usuthu has officially named Arthur “10111” Zwane and Vusumuzi “Kanu” Vilakazi as joint first team head coaches in a move which will see the SA bord coaching duo assume their roles with immediate effect.

“AmaZulu President Sandile Zungu confirmed the appointments, expressing confidence in the pair’s ability to lead the team through the challenges of the Betway Premiership.

“Their combined experience as both coaches and former professional players will be crucial in developing our younger talents and guiding our seasoned players in the task ahead.”

AmaZulu, who ended in 11th place last season under Martin, are next in action after the international break on the weekend of October 18-20 against Stellenbosch in the Carling Cup.
