The PSL today announced the winners of both player and coach of the awards at their base in Parktown, Johannesburg.
August saw TS Galaxy keeper Melusi Buthelezi take the award after he helped the Rockets go through the month of August unbeaten and without conceding a single goal.
Jose Riviero, Head coach of Orlando Pirates claimed Coach of the month award for his run where he won 3, drawn 2 and lost 1. Riviero is in his first season at Orlando Pirates and seem to have impressed the judges despite not being among the leading pack at the beginning of the season.
September-October saw Salim Magoola of Richards Bay took the award for his consistent performances in the league where he helped the newcomers to the top three of the log. Richards Bay went through a two-month period unbeaten, winning 4 games and drawing 4, with Magoola keeping 6 clean sheets.
Gavin Hunt took the coach of the month where his SuperSport United side won 5, drew 1 and lost 1 in the seven games they played. Hunt took the team to greater heights and forced SuperSport United to enter into a title race conversation.

The league went through a break in November as the whole world was entertained by a FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
December-January winner was Ronwen Williams of Mamelodi Sundowns. The Bafana Bafana captain helped Sundowns win 8 straight games, conceding just two goals. Williams was instrumental in Sundowns’ rampant period and saw him forge his name in the player of the season debate.
Following a restructuring in the coaching department, Rulani Mokwena assumed the role of sole Head coach at Mamelodi Sundowns. Mokwena saw his side extend their lead at the top and opened a huge gap between themselves and title challengers. Sundowns won all their 8 matches, beating both rivals Chiefs and Pirates, scoring 14 goals and conceding just two.
Jose Riveiro, Gavin Hunt and Rulani Mokwena have walked away with the DStv Premiership Coach of the Month accolades for the respective months 🏆
