About two months ago, the Citizens were flying high occupying the second spot on the DStv Premiership standings but have since slipped to fifth place.

Tinkler’s side last won a match against Cape Town Spurs in December.

This year they have played draws with both Chippa United and SuperSport United while they suffered defeats to Stellenbosch and most recently Royal AM.

They were also eliminated from the Nedbank Cup on penalties by SuperSport.

Next up is a home clash with seventh-placed Kaizer Chiefs, where a win could lift City back into second spot.

Tinkler said in the Sowetan: “The fact of the matter is that we are not playing well enough, it is as simple as that.

“We will get back to the drawing board and look to change that.

“We’ve been down this route before, we will find the way out.”

The clash against Chiefs will take place at Athlone Stadium on 30 March.

Kickoff is at 15:30.
