The PSL transfer window closes today midnight and there’s a big myth around the January transfer window with people saying the biggest deals don’t happen around this time of the year. Thembinkosi Lorch – Sundowns
Orlando Pirates have bid farewell to one of their star players, Thembinkosi Lorch, as he embarks on a new chapter with rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 30-year-old midfielder’s departure marks the end of an era in Soweto, with Lorch set to bolster the ranks of the DStv Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
Confirming Lorch’s exit, Pirates expressed gratitude for his invaluable contributions to the club. In a statement, the club acknowledged the pivotal role Lorch played, stating, “Thembinkosi Lorch is to leave Orlando Pirates Football Club after a discussion between the Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza and the Mamelodi Sundowns hierarchy.”

Matias Esquivel – Sundowns
Reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns have completed the signing of the 24-year-old Argentina midfielder Matias Esquivel from Club Atletico Lanus on a four-and-a-half-year deal. The Argentine international has reportedly signed with a transfer fee around R46.7m. Matias is the second acquisition for the Brazilians during the midseason transfer window after Zuko Mdunyelwa, who was signed last month from Chippa United.

Thabiso Lebitso and Thalenthe Mbatha – Orlando Pirates
Soweto giants Orlando Pirates announced the double signing of Thabiso Lebitso from Chippa United on a two-and-a-half-year deal, and Thalenthe Mbatha from SuperSport United on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season. Pirates have also released Eva Nga and recalled Tshegofatso Mabasa who was on loan at Moroka Swallows.

Sphesihle Maduna and Gadiel Kamagi – Cape Town Spurs
Bottom of the log Cape Town Spurs snatched Kaizer Chiefs target Sphesihle Maduna on a free transfer after his shocking departure from the Durban outfit AmaZulu. The Urban Warriors have not revealed the contract signed by the 24-year-old midfielder, who will play a key role in helping them move away the relegation zone. Spurs also confirmed the acquisition of Tanzanian international Gadiel Kamagi from Singida Fountain Gate. The 27-year-old defender has played for some big clubs in Tanzania such as Simba, Yand and Azam FC.
