Both teams started cautiously, knocking the ball around and losing possession cheaply without penetrating the final third of the pitch.

The first notable moment of the match occurred when Amakhosi right-back Dillan Solomons surged forward and unleashed an goal-bound shot that cannoned of the upright.

Polokwane City were contempt with allowing the Soweto Giants to have the majority of the possession, allowing them 69 percent of the ball in the first 45 minutes.

Chiefs, maintained possession but failed to create more chances ahead of the half-time break besides an optimistic header from Edmilson Dove, that went out of play after hitting the crossbar.

The second half saw Polokwane sit back and ‘park the bus’ as the waited to attack on the counter for the majority of the encounter, knowing that a draw ensures 2025/26 MTN8 participation.

Amakhosi made various changes to try and boost their attack with Gaston Sirino and under- 20 Afcon winner Mfundo Vilakazi coming on a substitutes.

However, Chiefs failed to create clear chances, and will have to contend with the unpleasant record of missing out on the Top 8 of the PSL top-flight table for the second consecutive season.

The draw sees Rise and Shine end the 2024/25 season in 7th position but with Chiefs in ninth position and out of the running for a Top 8 spot.
