Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo believes AmaZulu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa was at fault for the goal that saw the KZN outfit lose out on the MTN8 trophy to Orlando Pirates.

Pirates prevailed 1-0 thanks to Monnapule Saleng’s solitary free-kick from an acute angle and Khumalo questioned Mothwa’s positioning at the set-piece.

“Look at the position, look at the keeper, he is going two steps forward,” he explained on SABC.

“Was there any danger near post? No. Who is taking the ball, a left-footed player. Out of position…

“Let’s look at how the goal was scored, it’s a curler. If you take two steps forward, obviously he won’t be able to use the technique in terms of bending it over the bar.

“Why was he then after the goal apologising? Because he knew, he was wrong, his position was wrong.

“They are not playing Pirates, they are playing the occasion.”
