Chiefs are said to be big admirers of Mayele, who is in the books of the money-rich Pyramids of Egypt, and the Soweto giants are very keen to bring him to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Current Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi worked with the Congolese during his time in Tanzania with Young Africans.

South Africans witnessed the DRC-born striker when he heartlessly dismantled Orlando Pirates and crashed their Caf Champions League hopes in the semi-finals.

Mayele scored a brace when Pyramids defeated Pirates 3-2 to set up a final against Mamelodi Sundowns.

While it remains to be seen if the Glamour Boys will pay big money to lure the 30-year-old player to South Africa, veteran coach Hunt believes Mayele would be a great signing for Chiefs.

Hunt boldly stated the big striker would do what most players have struggled to do over the past few years: score at least 30 goals a season.

“In the PSL, I think he could be a 30-goal striker. I really do,” Hunt told the Soccerbeat podcast.

“He is not involved in all the touches, he would play in the box. In the PSL, I think he will score 30 goals if you service him.

“I think he would even make goals on his own by just movements, strength, power, and he gets a shot where he can hit.

“His strike rate of hitting the target is good. I think he is not a 20-goal, but a 30-goal striker.”

For Pyramids this season, Mayele has scored 15 goals and provided two assists in 32 matches. He scored eight of his goals in the 11 Champions League appearances.

“Chiefs will win the treble with Mayele,” Hunt insisted before adding he could also be a great addition to Sundowns and Pirates.

“I think there are at least two clubs that can certainly afford (in South Africa).”

While the striking department is not the only problem at Chiefs, it is one of the troubling areas which Nabi has to fix.

At this stage of the campaign, Wandile Duba is the team’s leading goal scorer in all competitions with just a meagre six goals.
