Mngqithi announced himself to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) when he claimed his first professional trophy with Golden Arrows, guiding his team to a dominant 6-0 victory over Ajax Cape Town in the 2009 MTN8 final.

Following his successful stint at Arrows, the 53-year-old coach moved on to AmaZulu FC and Chippa United, before joining Sundowns in 2013 as Pitso Mosimane’s assistant.

Over his 12 years at Chloorkop, Mngqithi helped the Brazilians secure an impressive nine league titles, one MTN8 trophy, two Nedbank Cups, two Carling Knockout titles, the African Football League, and the 2016 Caf Champions League title.

In a recent interview with the Up Back Through Podcast, the KwaZulu-Natal-born tactician confidently stated that nothing will prevent him from landing his next job, given his extensive accomplishments in the world of football.

“I don’t give a damn about what people are saying because I know my capacity,” Mngqithi said.

“I know I will still get another job, it’s inevitable. It’s something you just can’t stop.

“I will get another job, and I will do well in that job. I think I’ve won too much (trophies).

“That is the truth when I started coaching, I always wanted to win trophies because how will it be that you are a conquer.

“But you have never conquered because my name says ‘Manqoba’ I must conquer.”
