NEWS: ‘I know it will be nice to know what’s happening with Monnapule Saleng but it’s not going to happen’ – Jose Riveiro remains mum about Orlando Pirates’ starlet status at the club

Orlando Pirates mentor, José Riveiro, remained tight-lipped regarding Monnapule Saleng's situation at the club.

Saleng’s last appearance for the Buccaneers was on December 7, during a group stage Caf Champions League match against Egyptian giants Al Ahly at Orlando Stadium.

Since then, the 26-year-old has been notably absent from the team, failing to make it into any matchday squad.

“I don’t speak about my players it’s something that belongs to a private space and the moment that the club it’s the time to speak about which players are injured.

“How long is it going to take in which moment of the process they are, they (the club) will do it. It’s not my part of my job description,” Riveiro said.

“I know that it will be nice to how close is Olisa Nda or Goodman Mosele (to return from injury) and what’s happening with Saleng but it’s not going to happen.”

The Sea Robbers will now turn their attention to defending their Nedbank Cup title as they prepare to host Motsepe Championship side Baroka at Esigodini this Saturday.

The Spanish tactician José Riveiro has expressed his determination to extend their winning streak in the Ke Yona competition.

Since taking charge of the Soweto giants, Riveiro has remained unbeaten in the Nedbank Cup, securing back-to-back victories and becoming the first Pirates coach to achieve this feat, including the MTN8, he has won the three times in a row.

“We trying to look at every game like an opportunity to win, to showcase the players talents, to make sure that we are at the level that this project requires,” Riveiro said.

“And by this time is an opportunity to like people used to say, to defend our last Nedbank Cup title.

“We are excited to continue in the same role, in the same winning streak in this competition.

“But again, it’s going to be a tough one, we have the opportunity to have a look at the opponent (Baroka) and is a serious team with a lot of quality upfront.

“With a capacity to give you a bad day if you are not at the level that the game will require,” he concluded.
