The Rich Boyz, as Richards Bay FC is affectionately known in South Africa’s football fraternity, have been struggling lately even losing six games in row. The five straight defeats in the league comes as a huge surprise as the side from uMhlathuze looked to have been building an unlikely tilt for the title.

One goal for, and 10 against, in the last five league games is cause for concern because this is a side that at one stage refused to concede in the league games they played, particularly at the beginning of the season.

The team had separated with uMhlathuze Municipality as a sponsor mid-season before dealing with the passing of captain Siphamandla Mtolo.
Everything seems to be going against the Rich Boyz at the moment but coaching changes might influence a new direction as they won’t be the first side to ditch the co-coaching arrangement that worked up to this far this season.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United were the two sides who had co-coaches at the beginning of the season but have now restructured back to solo head coach.

With Richards Bay now being the latest side to leave this arrangement, Golden Arrows remain the last team standing with the co-coaches.

Pitso Dladla will join Ronnie Gabriel as an assistant coach until the end of the season.
