Chiefs drew 2-2 with relegation playoff-bound Swallows FC on Saturday to end their 20021/22 football season trophy-less to finish in fourth place on the DStv Premiership log. But Chiefs could end up further down the table as there are other teams that have not completed all their league fixtures yet.

In an interview with media after the Swallows FC draw, coach Zwane admits he did not have a squad good enough to challenge the quality teams above them in the league.

“I think it’s there for everyone to see,” Zwane said.” I can say things that people might see different and people think I know too much or that I’m too harsh on players but the reality is, we know that we don’t have good enough players to play for this club.

“We have players who can play for this club, but [they are] not good enough. We can’t keep repeating the same mistakes. As I said earlier on, are we improving? And it kills the coaches [because it looks] as if the coaches are not preparing the players.

“Look at the goals that we’ve been conceding, let alone that we’re not creating goal-scoring opportunities. Look at today, we were too flat. After scoring the goal, it’s like we didn’t want to play anymore, we said ‘it’s fine, you know we’re good with the 1-0 lead’.

“We didn’t want to go forward, we didn’t want to run like we were tired. So, I don’t know from what because we had at least the full week to prepare and also recharge our batteries to be ready for this game.

“So those are the things that obviously talk to us as a club and as to going forward who should be part of the team and who should not be part of the team and we’re going to be realistic with that. I think we’ve been nursing some of the player’s feelings for far too long now so things have to change,” Zwane adds.
