The 29-year-old Zungu is a free agent after being released by his French Ligue 2 club Amiens SC, but is reportedly still hoping to find another club in Europe for now.

There has been speculation doing the rounds in the media that Sundowns have offered the midfield a three-year contract and are willing to meet his financial demands, so its now up to Zungu what he wants to do next.

Downs chairman Motsepe told media, when asked about Zungu: “At the moment, we obviously cannot talk about any players who are not at the football club and are not part of our organisation.

“But we will be looking to bring in a few players as the transfer window progresses.

“But right now we would be disrespectful to speak about players that are not at our football club,” Motsepe said.

Zungu was previously part of the Sundowns setup before he was sold in July 2016 to Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães SC, who sold him to Amiens SC in August 2017 from where he was loaned out to Glasgow Rangers before returning to Amiens.

The reason why he was released by his French club was reportedly down to disciplinary issues.
