Amakhosi mourned the passing of Fleurs, who was murdered this past Thursday after he was hijacked at a petrol station on 14th Avenue Hendrik Potgieter.

Suspects gunned down the former SuperSport United defender before speeding off with his red Volkswagen Golf GTI on April 4.

Pay TV news channel, eNCA, are reporting that Gauteng police, Honeydew Crime Intelligence, CAP Special Operations, and Fidelity all collaborated in efforts to recover the vehicle.

The six suspects were traced and arrested in Slovoville, Soweto.

According to Chiefs sporting director, Kazier Motaung Jr, Fleurs had just made his way back to full fitness and was ready to compete for a place in coach Cavin Johnson’s team.

The defender, who died a month after celebrating his 24th birthday, was yet to play his maiden game for Amakhosi after joining the team as a free agent in October last year.

Fleurs made 69 senior team appearances for Matsatsantsa A Pitori and represented South Africa in the 2020 Olympic Games.

Amakhosi are set to hold a memorial service for Fleurs at the FNB Stadium on April 11.

Meanwhile, Johnson has about 10 days to prepare his team for their next encounter against DStv Premiership strugglers Richards Bay on April 21 at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium.

Amakhosi are in a horrible run of form, having lost to arch-rivals Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch and Chippa United while they drew blanks away to Eric Tinkler’s Cape Town City.
