Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson was left disappointed as the Soweto giants were held to a goalless draw by Polokwane City in their fight for a top eight place in the DStv Premiership.
Eighth-placed Amakhosi are fighting to hold onto their place in the top-eight but ended their afternoon level on 36 points with 10th-placed Rise and Shine in the DStv Premiership standings following their goalless draw.
Johnson’s side will need a result in their final league game with Cape Town Spurs to avoid one of AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, Chippa United or City taking their place.
Reflecting on the game, Johnson told SuperSport: “I don’t think we came out looking like we wanted to win, we didn’t play like I know we can.
“We gave the ball away far too cheaply. They are a good team that can punish you and they almost punished us.
“In the second half, we only switched on in the last 30 minutes, we had a few chances but they were not clear-cut. We should have played better. This was our second last game, I think we have to come out a lot better.
“In past games, we have looked much stronger, and we didn’t get that today from our players. We were not good enough technically.”
Chiefs will finish their season away to relegated Cape Town Spurs at Athlone Stadium on Saturday.
