Chippa United coach Thabo September believes finishing in the top-eight is a real possibility after his side’s 2-0 victory over Polokwane City.
Azola Ntsabo’s second-half goal, along with an own goal from Brian Bwire, helped the Chilli Boys end a three-match winless streak, lifting them to ninth place on the table with 25 points from 20 games.
September expressed satisfaction with the result and emphasized that if they secure victories in their remaining matches, they have a good chance of finishing in the top eight.
“This is a crucial win because it brings us closer to the top eight and puts us ahead of the teams that were performing well behind us,” September stated in a post-match interview.
“Being just four points away from the top eight gives us hope and belief that if we manage our remaining games effectively, we can break into that top eight.”
Looking ahead to their next match against AmaZulu after the Fifa break, September pinpointed areas of improvement for his team during the upcoming pause.
“We need to improve our finishing and ensure we create better scoring opportunities. It’s important to make the right decisions in the final third. I believe the build-up play needs attention. We must focus on getting into the final third,” he explained.
“We also need to improve both our attacking and defensive set-pieces. There is still plenty of work to be done, and several aspects of our game need refining.”
“Hopefully, in the two weeks leading up to the AmaZulu match, we can focus on these areas and ensure the players are ready for the challenges ahead in the schedule.”
On the other hand, Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe expressed his dissatisfaction with the defeat but assured that his team would be better prepared after the break.
