Bafana restores the nation’s pride

Bafana Bafana restored the nation’s pride by thrashing Sierra Leone 4-0 at the FNB Stadium.

It was a Themba Zwane show on the day but debutants Mihlali Mayamabela and Luke Le Roux stole the hearts of many. Mayambela who has been in Europe for years scored on his debut in the second half to make a perfect start to his international career.

Bafana opened the scoring through surprise inclusion, Themba Zwane. Coach Hugo Broos recently changed his mind regarding Zwane’s inclusion. Before, he had vowed he’d not select the 33-year-old as he is not part of his plans.

The former PSL Footballer of the Season responded with a brace, with Modiba & Mayambela scoring the other two to entertain the small crowd at FNB.

Hollywoodbets Super League

TUT claimed their well-deserved bragging rights with their first-ever win in a Pretoria derby since the inception of the Hollywoodbets Super League on Sunday afternoon against defending champions Sundowns.

The African champions had plenty of chances in the first half and none were able to break Player of the Match and goalkeeper, Jackie Mosima.

Sundowns started this game with top scorers Boitumelo Rabale and Michie Minnies on the bench whom have scored 14 & 11 goals in the league respectively.

The resilience of TUT players was well rewarded in the second half when Mary Ntsweng scored the first & only goal of the match, her third of the season, in the 69th minute.

The win moved TUT to third on the log behind JVW who have a superior goal difference, with both sides behind with just 4 points.

Sundowns have games in hand because of their participation in COSAFA WCAFCL Qualifiers.

They will again jet out of the country to Morocco where they will be expected to defend their title in the WCAFCL.
