Pro Philani looks back at the past weekend’s local football as Caleb Bimenyimana bags a hattrick, Pirates continue to fire blanks and more!
Caleb Bimenyimana bags a hattrick
Caleb Bimeninyama scored a hat-trick of penalties to secure a victory for Kaizer Chiefs at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town.
It was a first in the DStv Premiership that a player scores a hattrick of penalties in a league match. Caleb joined Chiefs just after the start of the season after impressing head coach Arthur Zwane during trials.
The Burundian marksman has not disappointed in the minutes he has been given by Zwane.
He has now netted six times in four games, four of the six goals, all from the spot. Amakhosi also have been awarded seven penalties in 10 games, a record at this stage of the season.
The victory sees the Glamour Boys move to fourth on the table, two points behind log leaders Sundowns who have a game in hand.

Pirates continue to fire blanks
Orlando Pirates continued to fire blanks after playing to a 0-0 draw against newcomers Richards Bay FC at Orlando Stadium.
The Natal Rich Boys came to Orlando holding the current best defensive record in the league, having conceded three goals after nine games. The Buccaneers threw everything to the defence of the Rich Boyz, but the rookies stood tall.
A moment of madness found defender Siyanda Msani in the early stages of the second half when his dangerous tackle landed on the shin of Oliseh Ndah. The referee, Thando Ndzandzeka, couldn’t hesitate to send Msani for an early shower.
Pirates couldn’t capitalize on the one-man Richards Bay as they kept huffing and puffing until the end of the match.

TS Galaxy goes 7 games without a goal
The Rockets have now gone seven games without scoring a single goal in the league to become the holders of the longest run without a goal in the league.
Galaxy played without head coach, Sead Ramovic, whom had to return home to attend to personal issues.
Galaxy had numerous chances to win the match but it was Swallows keeper, Sanele Tshabalala, who stood firm between the three points when he denied veteran striker Bernard Parker a one-on-one chance and from the penalty spot.
Swallows would welcome the draw as it moved them from the automatic relegation spot to the playoff spot on the league table.

SuperSport edge Sekhukhune to move to third
At the beginning of the season, SuperSport United were tipped to relegation candidates by naysayers after they sold Ronwen Williams to neighbours Sundowns.
Gavin Hunt took the reigns following two unsuccessful spells at Chippa United and at Kaizer Chiefs, where he was dismissed by both clubs after a string of poor results. It is the familiar territory that has given Hunt joy again.
SuperSport has seen itself topple neighbours, Sundowns, Maritzburg United, Royal AM & Sekhukhune United in the last five games, with the only defeat being handed by Chiefs.
A brace from Bradley Grobler & Thami Gabuza saw Hunt’s men move to third.
Sekhukhune will be disappointed after they defeated Pirates 2-0 midweek in Polokwane that they couldn’t carry their form to Pretoria as they try to move from the bottom to the top 8.
Hunt’s former student, Kaitano Tembo, who is leading Sekhukhune United, had no answer for all questions that were asked by the home side, and it were those questions that handed Hunt a great victory and 3rd position on the log.

CAF exploits favor Sundowns & Gallants
Mamelodi Sundowns defeated La Passe 7-0 at the Loftus Stadium on Sunday evening. The part-timers looked out of depth as their conceded in the first minute through Grant Kekana’s header.
Sundowns continued to probe and dominate proceedings as they scored four more goals to go to half-time 5-0 ahead.
Sundowns took the foot off the paddle in the second half and scored two more goals to register their biggest “away” victory in the competition.
Marumo Gallants wom 3-1 away from home against Elgeco Plus in the CAFCC.
Royal AM drew 0-0 at home to Zesco United.
Cape Town City were humbled 3-0 at home by Petro.
