To win the playoff race and keep their place in South Africa’s top tier, Bay must avoid a defeat against Bakgakga, who still have an outside chance to gain promotion.

The Vusumuzi Vilakazi-coached Bay could have won the battle with a victory over the University of Pretoria on Saturday.

However, the Natal Rich Boyz were held to a 1-1 draw by The Students.

Vilakazi was disappointed by his side’s lack of precision upfront and wants to see improvements against Baroka.

“It’s going to be a different approach, of course. We are playing against Baroka, both teams are ball-based possessions,” Vilakazi told SABC Sport.

“We will try our best to create scoring opportunities and score at home and take that advantage of playing at home.

“We’ve done well in our first game at home, so a lot is expected now. We must do it for these fans, who travelled from Durban to come here (Pretoria),” he said.

Bay lead the standings of the mini-league with five points. They are tied on points with AmaTuks, who have played all their four matches.

Baroka are on two points but can finish at the summit if they beat Richards Bay by a two-goal cushion.

“We have to dig deep, it’s an honest fact we have to dig deep. It’s not going to be an easy game,” said Vilakazi.

“This is football, and we must make sure that we beat Baroka at home and take advantage.

“With hard work and commitment from the players, I think we are still on the right track,” concluded Vilakazi.
