PSL WRAP: SuperSport blow two-goal lead, victories for TS Galaxy and Chippa United

Arrows fight back against SuperSport

Gavin Hunt was left frustrated when his Matsatsantsa A Pitori outfit missed the chance to go up to third in the DStv Premiership standings after squandering a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Golden Arrows at the Mpumalanga Stadium.

Talented 20-year-old defender Ime Okon gave Matsatsantsa the lead just 11 minutes before Terrence Dzvukamanja doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Arrows came out a totally different outfit after the interval and pulled a goal back with 20 minutes remaining through substitute Lungelo Nguse.

The hosts then threw everything forward in search of the equalizer and were rewarded when defender Gladwin Shitolo earned his team a hard-fought point.

The draw leaves SuperSport in fifth place in the standings while Arrows remain ninth.

Galaxy thrash Royal AM

After labouring in the opening half, TS Galaxy found their groove and were in cruise control in the second stanza to thrash Royal AM 3-0 at the Mbombela Stadium.

Samir Nurkovic opened the scoring in the 57th minute before substitutes Lehlohonolo Mojalefa and Kamogelo Sebelebele sealed the deal for The Rockets when they rattled the back of the net in the dying stages of the game. 

The victory moves Galaxy up to seventh on the league table while Royal AM languish in 14th place, but are nine points clear of a relegation play-off position.

Cape Town Spurs woes continue 

Chippa United compounded Cape Town Spurs’ relegation fears with a 2-0 victory at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Sinoxolo Kwayiba put the Chilli Boys ahead in the 26th minute before the win was sealed five minutes from full-time through a Kayden Francis strike.

The three points moves Chippa up to 11th in the standings while Spurs remain rooted to the bottom, two points behind 15th-placed Richards Bay.

What to look forward to

Galaxy’s next assignment is a trip to the capital city where they will confront SuperSport this Saturday while Steve Komphela’s Arrows side will look to upset Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium.

Cape Town Spurs will face a tough test against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns on 9 April. The Chilli Boys will aim to boost their top-eight ambitions when they host a wounded Kaizer Chiefs.
