Coach Nasreddine Nabi and his troops will look to put their Nedbank Cup triumph behind them on Saturday, as the focus shifts to securing a top eight finish. Amakhosi will be determined to avoid ending another season outside the MTN8 bracket.

Chiefs currently sit in ninth place on the Betway Premiership table with 30 points and two games remaining. Just above them, in eighth place, are Chippa United – also on 30 points – but with only one match left to play.

A win against Sekhukhune United would give Nabi’s side a strong chance of qualifying for the MTN8, as it would place them three points clear of the Chilli Boys.

Even though the Glamour Boys will fight tooth and nail for victory, it won’t be an easy task. The home side is also pushing for a third-place finish, aiming to secure qualification for next season’s Caf Confederation Cup.

With Stellenbosch hot on their heels, Eric Tinkler’s men can’t afford to drop points. A slip-up could see them fall to fourth place, as only a single point separates them from Stellies.

Players to Watch

For coach Nabi, Wandile Duba has been a key figure in attack, playing a crucial role in helping Chiefs reach the Nedbank Cup final. He is currently the team’s top scorer with six goals across all competitions.

Another attacking threat is Makabi Lilepo, who has made a strong impact since joining the Soweto giants, netting five goals so far. Alongside Pule Mmodi, both players will be looking to trouble Babina Noko’s defence.

Captain Yusuf Maart, who faced criticism earlier in the season, appears to have regained his confidence – his winning goal in the Nedbank Cup final against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates was a major boost to his morale. He’ll be eager to control the midfield battle on Saturday.

However, Chiefs must remain alert at the back, as Sekhukhune’s Andy Boyeli poses a constant threat and can punish any defensive lapses. He’s been in excellent form this season, alongside Chibuike Ohizu, who has also been instrumental for United.

Another player who has recently found his form is Keletso Makgalwa. Fresh off winning the April Player of the Month award, he’ll be a key figure for coach Tinkler in ensuring all three points stay at home.

On the bench, Tinkler can also call on Linda Mntambo, a game-changer who is capable of making an immediate impact and scoring when it matters most.
