We have a full complement of fixtures to enjoy as Mzansi’s best go head to head! If last week was anything to go by, goals came in one after the other with 12 of the 16 top flight clubs finding the back of the net.

That round of fixtures will be remembered for Masandawana’s 4-0 dismantling of Kaizer Chiefs in front of a sold out Loftus Versveld.

There is a high-profile fixture this weekend which takes the form of a good old-fashioned Cape derby, with both clubs in desperate need of the 3 points – but for completely different reasons.

The Great Wall of TS Galaxy

Melusi Buthelezi has been one of a host of players that have been overperforming at TS Galaxy. The current (joint) table toppers are yet to concede a league goal in the DStv Premiership. Last season, the shot-stopper conceded eight goals across his 11 league appearances which was enough to earn him a starting spot this season. Buthelezi has kept clean sheets against AmaZulu, Mamelodi Sundowns and Supersport already. He’ll aim for a fourth of the season against Golden Arrows.

Nassir off the mark for Masandawana

Abubeker Nassir opened his account last time out. The Ethiopian is the latest addition to the Sundowns’ attack and could be one for the future. Despite being on the pitch for just 30 minutes in his previous league appearance, the forward nabbed Masandawana’s fourth goal with his only shot of the game and created a chance (for Shalulile) in his side’s dismantling of Kaizer Chiefs.

No du Preez? No problem! Mendieta steps up for Stellies

Junior Mendieta has been involved in three goals in his previous two appearances. The Stellies talisman bagged two assists last time out as his side dispatched Royal AM 3-1 at the Danie Craven Stadium. Prior to that one, the Argentinian opened his account against Orlando Pirates, earning a point for his side. Stellenbosch are up against Cape Town City this weekend and looks good value to extend his scoring streak in the derby!

Gabadinho settling well in eThekwini

Gabadinho Mhango has netted in back-to-back league fixtures for his new employers. The former Pirates man made just five league appearances last season for the Buccaneers, registering just a single assist in that time. Since arriving in Durban, however, the Malawian has found the back of the net frightening regularity. Mhango comes up against a Swallows team who had the leakiest home defence last season, shipping 21 league goals on home soil.

Tough day at the office of Maart against Sundowns

Yusuf Maart has gone straight into the starting lineup for Kaizer Chiefs since his transfer. The former Sekhukhune United midfielder notched two goals and two assists in his 28 league appearances last season. The midfielder attempted a team-high four shots last time out in their drubbing against Masandawana, however, none of them tested Ronwen Williams.
