Peter Shalulile could have the league on toast against this season after banging in 23 goals last time out, Khama Billiat and Chiefs will looking to close the gap on Masandawana and more from the DStv Premiership!
The DStv Premiership returns tonight with a blockbuster fixture between Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City. The league heavyweights will both be looking to put their best foot forward and you have to wonder who will land the first blow?
Elsewhere, Royal AM and Kaizer Chiefs do battle which is bound to deliver fireworks. The Glamour Boys have bolstered their squad with some serious attacking power! Two KZN sides Golden Arrows and Richards Bay United go head to head on Saturday with both of them looking to get their respective seasons off to the best possible start.
King Ndlovu key for Maritzburg
King Ndlovu conceded just five goals across his nine league appearances last season for Marumo Gallants. The shot-stopper put together a string of consistent performances that saw his side avoid home league defeat in 2022, en route to booking their spot in the Nedbank Cup final. The goalkeeper now plies his trade at Maritzburg United and will compete with Marcel Engelhardt. The German keeper was the only top-flight keeper to concede 30+ league goals last season.

Another Shalulie masterclass on the cards?
Peter Shalulile (23) finished the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season as the league’s top scorer. Furthermore, he helped himself to five assists, bringing his total league goal involvements to 28. The Sundowns hitman was instrumental in guiding his team to the championship and penned a five-year contract extension during the break. He will be looking to repay the faith and should have a chance to do just that when The Yellow Nation square up against Cape Town City.
I think it’s settled Peter Shalulile (along with Bradley Grobler) is the best striker in the league. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/yEnrvomoJq

Bienvenu aiming to replicate Chippa form for Bucs
Bienvenu Eva Nga (10) was one of only three players to break into double digits on the DStv Premiership scoring charts for the 2021/22 season. Impressively, he was involved in 50% of Chippa’s goals last season (11 of 22) – no topflight player had a higher ratio. The forward’s impressive performances have seen him being snapped up by Soweto heavyweights Orlando Pirates FC and he could make his league debut this weekend.

Billiat to lead Chiefs’ title challenge
Khama Billiat (8) led the DStv Premiership assist charts come the end of the season. Furthermore, he bagged seven goals during the campaign bringing his goal involvements to 15. He will be looking to revive the attack following another trophyless season for Amakhosi. Billiat & co make the trip to KZN where they will take on Royal AM.
witnessing the class of Khama Billiat is something that I'll never take for granted. No toxic energy, always smiling & engaging with youngsters, plays clean football & respects everybody. Most dribbles completed last season & most assists, nobody can imitate this class, a baller. pic.twitter.com/RZYLqeGIWB
