Steve Komphela admits his side were too desperate to score in their goalless draw with Chippa United on Wednesday.

While Swallows struggled in front of goal, the Chilli Boys saw a seemingly legitimate goal by Roscoe Petersen in the second half at the Dobsonville Stadium ruled out for offsides.

Komphela’s side were ultimately lucky to come away with a point but the Dube Birds boss exclaimed his side’s inability to find the target.

Speaking after the game, Komphela said on SuperSport his side should have scored from virtually the first kick, only for Tshegofatso Mabasa to miss an open goal.

Komphela said: “We came out in the first minute … you can try a million of those at the far post and you will score all of them. It was the easiest of tap-ins.

“The second half was a bit frustrating. You could see the opportunities, but we looked naive, even every time we tweaked things, we manipulated goal opportunities but we took too long. Then we got desperate. In football if you get desperate you get nothing.

“This is one we can throw in the dustbin and take the point and look forward.”
