TS Galaxy owner Tim Sukazi insists he is content with his current role as the member of the Premier Soccer League executive member and has no intention to succeed Irvin Khoza as the PSL chairman.
Khoza has been at the helm of the PSL since 2003 and was recently elected unopposed in the most recent National Soccer League (NSL) quadrennial general meeting held in November last year.
Sukazi, meanwhile, was elected to the PSL exco, serving alongside acting chief executive officer Mato Madlala and seasoned football administrator Stanley Matthews along other for a term of four years.
Speaking on a newly launched The Ntsimbi Makwakwa Podcast, Sukazi reiterated his position in the football fraternity and does not have an uncontrollable desire to sit on the throne of PSL football.
“That is not my decision to make. I have seen people writing and talking, saying ‘Tim must be the chairperson’.
“That’s their opinion and I cannot control that, but the process that makes one to be a chairperson is a legislative process, it is done through the legislative of the league, it is not a situation of whether one wants [to be chairperson or not],” Sukazi told Mduduzi ‘Iron’ Makwakwa.
“There are elections (to appoint a chairman) and clubs have to vote. So, in the end, what people think won’t amount to anything. If someone tells you that they want to be the chairperson of the league, they are far ahead of themselves.
“We have a chairperson now who has done great work. Why don’t we focus on supporting him and make sure that the administration of the league is strong? I am in a good space where I am and positions are not things I am focused on. I have an interest in the game.
“When you are vocal and speak about things that advance football, people may say you are controversial, but if you listen to the things I say, you may see an element of truth from and that is needed and necessary. We need to go forward because we are all here for the same course.
“It is not often that you find yourself serving under the leadership of the two legendary chairman Kaizer Motuang and Irvin Khoza. They have served football for many years and they have done great work and achieved a lot,” Sukazi added.
