Galaxy hosts the unstoppable Yellow Train at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit at 19:30.

The men from the country’s capital will head to the next game elated after thumping their closest rival, Orlando Pirates, in the Betway Premiership title race by 4-1 to open a nine-point gap at the top.

Sundowns aim to increase gap at the top against tough TS Galaxy

Matches have been coming up thick and fast for coach Miguel Cardoso and his men and have handled the pressure well as they still lead the Premiership standings at the halfway mark.

Masandawana will play their third match in less than a week when they visit the Rockets on Tuesday night.

The defending champions visited cross-town rivals SuperSport United on Wednesday before welcoming the Buccaneers in a sold-out affair at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.

Cardoso will want his men to continue their good run against the Rockets, who have enjoyed a solid run after a regime change that took place following struggles early into the current campaign.

Galaxy are yet to lose a match ever since Adnan Beganovic took over the coaching reigns from former head coach Sead Ramovic in November.

Under Beganovic, the team played 10 matches in the league, where they won five matches and drew five times.

The 41-year-old coach, who was an assistant to Ramovic, also guided the side to the Nedbank Cup round of 16 where they will play against Durban City on Valentine’s Day away from home.

This match is set to be a massive test for Beganovic against a side that has proven to be unbeatable and has no competition in the Premier Soccer League.

Sundowns will also be fighting to remain unbeaten in South Africa under the leadership of Cardoso.

How to watch

The match will be televised on SuperSport Channel 202 and the streaming platform Showmax.

Also, live commentary will be provided on the SABC’s different radio stations.

Betting odds

The Pretoria giants are overwhelming favourites to collect another victory and increase the points gap at the top of the log table to 12 points.

At the moment it looks like nothing or no team can stop them after they brushed off Pirates, who were said to be the side that could challenge them, easily.

But football is a funny sport that tends to spring nasty surprises sometimes. Galaxy have done well but haven’t really played against one of the strongest competitors in the league in their impressive run.

Sundowns have scored 11 goals in their previous three fixtures, so this match is likely to produce a few goals.

Players-to-watch

Lucas Ribeiro was on fire when Sundowns took down the Sea Robbers at the weekend as he scored a brace to take his goal tally to nine in the league.

The Brazilian playmaker, touted as the next best thing in South African football by admirers of his skills, will be determined to reach the double figures and maximise the gap at the top of the goalscoring charts.

Jayden Adams has hit the ground running after joining Sundowns in January and has made a meaningful contribution, impressing his new coach Cardoso.

The midfielder will be expected to give another solid performance for Downs.

The Rockets will rely on their striker Dzenan Zajmovic to bring his A game in pursuit of pulling a major upset.
