Amakhosi kicked off their season with a 1-0 loss to Royal AM but were back in business with a 3-0 victory over Maritzburg United.

But Sundowns were coming off the back of a defeat themselves and made light work of an out-of-sorts Chiefs side at Loftus Versfeld.

Gaston Sirino opened the scoring on six minutes, ahead of a Peter Shalulile Brace (17′ P, 53′), while new signing Abubeker Nassir completed the rout with his goal on 76 minutes.

Speaking after the game, Zwane said on SuperSport: “Look we were nowhere near in terms of performing today. I think the boys looked flat. They didn’t come to the party. We were just not ourselves. You look at from the first goal, it was a manna from heaven for them and I think from there we lost it.

“We were not ourselves. I think we played about actually the entire first half, we couldn’t have a shot on target. It wasn’t to be in terms of performance. All the entire middle field-they were flat you know they couldn’t move, they couldn’t keep the ball, they couldn’t defend and at some point the defence was bound to crack.

“I think if [Reeve] Frosler converted that one, it was going to be 2-1. Maybe, it was going to be a different ball game altogether after that because now you could see now they are absorbing the pressure.

“But we missed that one and from there a penalty, maybe it was going to be 3-2 and then the game was open again. So, we just did not come to the party, we weren’t ourselves. I think credit to Sundowns technical staff. Credit to their team, they have got a quality team.”
