Inter also had to produce their best football to keep their outside chance of winning the Scudetto. Further down the table in the relegation zone, Salernitana earned a much-needed point last time out. Mcebo Mpungose previews the much-anticipated game week 37.

Saturday 14 May

21/10 Empoli | Draw 28/10 | Salernitana 11/10 (15:00)

The home side has won once in their last five fixtures, a form that has them sitting just above teams trying to scramble out of the relegation zone. Salernitana is one of those teams and they are unbeaten in their last five. A run in which they have collected 11 points with three victories and two draws. Double chance this, Salernitana is a team in form and should be able to walk away with a victory or a point at least.

15/20 Udinese | Draw 29/10 | Spezia 32/10 (18:00)

Udinese’s form has been fluctuating in recent weeks. In their last five games, they managed to pick up one win and two draws, losing the rest. Spezia will probably look at this game as one they could get something out of in an attempt to increase the tiny gap between them and the 18th-positioned team. While both teams are struggling to get wins, they are both quite culpable in front of goal. Back both teams to score @ 13/20.

5/4 Hellas Verona | Draw 49/20 | Torino 2/1 (18:00)

Verona will be disappointed at how they surrendered a one-goal lead to eventually lose to Champions elect AC Milan but should be able to dust themselves off for what should be an interesting mid-table clash.

The teams occupying positions nine and ten respectively, both can’t qualify for any European competition. In sporting terms, it is a dead rubber, but I would still back the home side to at least win the first half at 18/10.

1/4 Roma | Draw 52/10 | Venezia 9/1 (20:45)

Roma’s loss to Fiorentina dented their chances of qualifying for the Europa League. Even though they are three points behind Lazio in fifth position, but Lazio has a much better goal difference.

Venezia’s first win in five games gave themselves a fighting chance to try to stay in the Serie A, albeit their survival depends on other matches going their way and collecting maximum points in their final two games. They will get chances against Roma, but I don’t see them walking away with three points. I’m going with a Roma win here, but if you’re looking for value check for Tammy Abraham as an anytime goal scorer.

Sunday 15 May

16/10 Bologna | Draw 26/10 | Sassuolo 15/10 (12:30)

Another mid-table clash in this early Sunday kick-off. Bologna sits comfortably on position 13, safe from relegation, while Sassuolo is in 11th position winless in their last four games (lost three) and looking like they are ready for the summer break before preseason. Bologna has only lost once in their last four games, perhaps the fear of relegation has seen them wake up a bit in the last couple of weeks and they have managed to collect six points before their loss last time out. I’m backing a Bologna win.

7/10 Napoli | Draw 3/1 | Genoa 7/2 (15:00)

This will feel like another wasted season for Napoli even though Champions League qualification is guaranteed for next season. They were out of the title race as soon as AC Milan hit 80 points with Napoli only capable of 79 points. This will still be a season to remember for Napoli and in another season 79 points could be enough to win the Scudetto. They come up against a Genoa side showing a bit of life having collected two wins in their last five games to give themselves a slim chance of surviving the drop. A win will see them out of the relegation zone should other results go their way. Back both teams to score.

15/20 AC Milan | Draw 3/1 | Atalanta 31/10 (18:00)

AC Milan is on the brink of its first title in eleven years. With that thought in mind and with them being at home, they should be raring to go against an Atalanta side who doesn’t have much to play for. With that being said, the hosts should win this quite comfortably. Banker the hosts here on 15/20.

13/2 Cagliari | Draw 44/10 | Inter Milan 1/3 (20:45)

Cagliari takes on Inter Milan in this contest with two sides fighting for their lives on either side of the table. The hosts are currently a point away from safety while the away side sit two points from the top and can only hope that their arch-rivals AC Milan drop points in their two remaining games to lift the Serie A. I’m tipping the over 2.5 market here at 9/20.

Monday 16 May

26/10 Sampdoria | Draw 26/10 | Fiorentina 19/20 (18:30)

Sampdoria needs another win to make them completely safe and won’t want to look elsewhere to depend on others to ensure safety. With that said, they should go all out here for the win. The visitors, however, do have the Europa League in mind and will be doing their utmost best to ensure that they do everything to win. With both teams needing to win at all costs, the draw is a massive runner here at 26/10.

11/10 Juventus | Draw 51/20 | Lazio 43/20 (20:45)

Juventus have secured Champions League football for yet another season after what was a topsy turvy start. Lazio who has had a fantastic season will be looking to secure their Europa League spot. With Juventus playing for nothing and with Lazio needing that sense of security, Lazio does look like they can walk away with something here. Back the way team at 43/20.
