Seema slams medics after Letlabika injury

Bloemfontein Celtic coach Lehlohonolo Seema was critical of the slow reaction of the paramedics when Wandisile Letlabika suffered a concussion in their match against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

The match was stopped for 10 minutes after the Siwelele defender hit his head against a post when challenging for the ball and collapsed inside the 18-yard area.

Polokwane City make light work of Baroka

Polokwane City ended a run of four Absa Premiership matches without a win as they beat struggling Baroka FC 3-1 in Sunday’s Limpopo derby at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The result sees Rise and Shine move up to seventh place in the table, level with sixth-placed Kaizer Chiefs on 32 points, while Telkom Knockout champions Bakgaga remain in danger of relegation in 13th place, just one point above the drop zone.

Cape Town City stage comeback

Cape Town City pulled off a remarkable comeback as they rallied from two goals down to record a memorable 3-2 victory over Bidvest Wits at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday night.

Wits looked to be in control at the half-time break thanks to goals from Thulani Hlatshwayo and Gift Motupa but City regrouped in the second stanza, with Kermit Erasmus, Bradley Ralani and Riyaad Norodien getting their names on the scoresheet.

Kaizer Chiefs hold off Highlands

Kaizer Chiefs claimed all three points at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening after coming out on top against a resilient Highlands Park in a five-goal thriller.

Amakhosi claimed the lead through Bernard Parker in the 39th minute, only for Bevan Fransman to level matters just three minutes later. Leonardo Castro put Chiefs back in front four minutes after the restart, with Dumisani Zuma notching their third on 71 minutes. Lesenya Ramoraka reduced the deficit in the 77th minute, but Chiefs were able to hold firm in the closing stages of the contest to claim a crucial victory and halt a three-match winless streak.

Maritzburg United see off Amazulu KZN derby

Maritzburg United rallied from behind to record a crucial 2-1 victory over KZN rivals AmaZulu at Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday night.

Usuthu claimed the lead on the stroke of half-time thanks to Bandile Shandu’s own goal, but the Team of Choice showed real grit and determination after the break as they drew level through Fortune Makaringe on 76 minutes, before Judas Moseamedi completed the come-from-behind victory in injury time.
