South Korean K1 League: GW5 Preview

Soccer ball on grass

There were upsets galore last weekend, the biggest saw Gangwon end Jeonbuk Motors’ unbeaten streak with a 1-0 home win at 3/1 odds, while Ulsan squandered an ideal opportunity to take top spot by drawing 1-1 against bottom-of-the-log Gwangju.

When these teams get back to winning ways, we will have a few winning legs to add to our multiples. If you’re having a bet this weekend, make sure you don’t miss out on our selections and 6/1 treble.

Friday 5 June

Incheon United 3/1
Draw 9/4
Gangwon 9/10
Incheon United scored their first goal of the season in a 4-1 loss to Pohang Steelers and remain winless on two points after four matches. Gangwon picked up a second win of the campaign in fortunate fashion against Jeonbuk Motors and will be aiming to maintain the winning momentum. Gangwon went unbeaten against the struggling home team last season, winning two of the three meetings. However, use the Clean Sheet Away Team market and back (Yes) at 5/4.

Saturday 6 June

Seoul 34/10
Draw 5/2
Jeonbuk Motors 15/20
Seoul will have to be on top of their game when they host a team hungry to redeem themselves. Hosting Seongnam they fell to a cruel 1-0 loss thanks to an 89th minute goal. Jeonbuk Motors’ centre-back Hong Jeong-Ho’s red card for the professional foul in the 15th minute led to Lars Veldwijk hitting the showers earlier than he would have liked and he will be raring to go this time around. My money is on Jeonbuk Motors at 15/20.

Pohang Steelers 21/10
Draw 22/10
Ulsan 5/4
Pohang Steelers were the biggest winners last weekend, netting four goals. Ulsan will be kicking themselves having dropped four points with back-to-back draws that could have seen them summit the standings. Interestingly both sides have scored in each of the four games they have played thus far. Both Team to Score (Yes) is a good bet at 15/20.

Busan I’Park 29/20
Draw 2/1
Sangju Sangmu 39/20
Busan I’Park held out for a goalless draw last time out but remain winless, with two losses followed by two stalemates. Sangju Sangmu also come off a draw, 1-1 at Daegu, and this will be an ideal game to get back to winning ways. I can’t see Sangju Sangmu losing this one, select Draw/Away in the Double Chance market at 5/10 to add to your multiples.

Sunday 7 June

Seongnam 18/10
Draw 39/20
Daegu 16/10
Seongnam have been solid in defence, conceding just once in the opening four games and come in high on confidence after winning 1-0 away at Seoul. Daegu is the stronger team but come into the clash winless in four games with three draws and have just scored twice, both on home soil. At 39/20, this one has draw written all over it.

Suwon Bluewings 8/10
Draw 47/20
Gwangju 33/10
Suwon Bluewings failed to score at Busan I’Park and had to settle for a share of the spoils in the goalless draw. They return to home soil and will be hoping to pile the misery on the bottom side. Gwangju scored their first goal of the season in the surprising 1-1 draw with Ulsan following three straight defeats. Take Suwon Bluewings to win their fifth consecutive match against Gwangju.

TREBLE TIPPED @ 6/1
Incheon United vs Gangwon – Clean Sheet Away Team (Yes) 5/4
Jeonbuk Motors 15/20
Suwon Bluewings 8/10
