Spanish La Liga: Gameweek 27 Preview

Barcelona are now second on the table and have cut the gap to three points after Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid played to a one-all draw last Sunday. The Catalans are now back in the title race as they still have to play Atletico so they’ll feel winning the league is now in their hands.

Friday 12 March

11/10 Levante | Draw 9/4 | Valencia 49/20 (22:00)

Valencia scored twice in the last five minutes through Carlos Soler and Goncalo Guedes to beat visiting neighbours Villarreal 2-1 in La Liga and claim a much-needed three points for under-pressure coach Javi Gracia last Friday. Meanwhile, Levante’s three-match unbeaten streak came to an end when they suffered a 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad. Back Valencia to make it back-to-back wins.

Saturday 13 March

 21/20 Alaves | 9/4 | Cadiz 28/10 (15:00)

Losing three games in a row has buried Alaves at the bottom of the table. The hosts have five wins to their name from their 25 attempts. Their previous encounter was at home and they lost to Osasuna with a 1-0 score on the board, meaning they’ve conceded 10 goals in the last three matches. Cadiz, on the other hand, ended their seven-match winless run when they beat fellow strugglers Eibar. Neither team can be trusted on current form, so I suggest backing a draw here.

1/5 Real Madrid | 54/10 | Elche 12/1 (17:15)

Real Madrid missed a perfect opportunity to close the gap on Atletico Madrid when they met each other last weekend. That was the last match these sides will play this season, meaning Zinedine Zidane’s men will have to hope other teams do the job for them. Next up for the defending champions is relegation-threatened Elche whom they should beat if they are serious about catching Atletico. Back Real Madrid to Win and Both Teams To Score at 21/10.

12/10 Osasuna | 2/1 | Valladolid 51/20 (19:30)

Osasuna will be looking to make it two wins on the bounce and also claim their fourth win in seven matches. The hosts have been very decent this year, especially against the lower end of the table. Real Valladolid ended their torrid form when they won their first game in nine matches. Despite the visitors coming into this tie fresh from a win, I think this should be a comfortable win for Osasuna.

4/1 Getafe | 21/10 | Atletico Madrid 17/20 (22:00)

Atletico Madrid will be desperate for matches to finish as they can’t hold on for too long with Real Madrid and Barcelona picking up form and Messi winning Player of the Month awards. One thing they don’t want to see is Barca’s form continue because they will be in big trouble. However, everything is still in Atletico’s hands and there is no reason to panic as yet. This is a must-win game for the visitors as they need it to boost their confidence.

Sunday 14 March

31/20 Celta Vigo | 43/20 | Athletic Bilbao 37/20 (15:00)

Celta Vigo have lost one game in their last seven La Liga matches. They will face a team that’s also on a good run of form. The visitors are unbeaten in their last eight matches across all competitions and they’ve faced some strong opposition in the process. Back a draw in this encounter.

4/1 Granada | 26/10 | Real Sociedad 7/10 (17:15)

Granada are not even close to their best this season and are not even half the side they were in the last campaign. The hosts were serious UEFA Champions League qualifying contenders, but now they are just a midtable team that everyone wants to face. Real Sociedad have found their form they showed in the beginning of the season and are now within touching distance of fourth-placed Sevilla. Back Sociedad to wipe the floor with Granada here.

21/10 Eibar | 24/10 | Villarreal 5/4 (19:30)

Villarreal were unlucky to lose in the derby against Valencia last Friday where they conceded two late goals to lose 2-1. The Yellow Submarine dominated most parts of the game and didn’t deserve to lose. They have been presented with a perfect opportunity to make up for that defeat when they travel to face a struggling Eibar team that was beaten by Cadiz last time out. Back the visitors to win.

21/20 Sevilla | 47/20 | Real Betis 26/10(19:30)

The Seville derby promises to be a cracking encounter this Sunday as both sides are playing good attractive football. Sevilla have lost two games on the spin. Prior to those defeats, they had won nine in a row. Real Betis are on a three-match winning streak and adding a derby win will be a good month for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. This is a tough match to call so I’ll sit on the fence and back Both Teams to Score at 17/20.

Monday 15 March

1/5 Barcelona | 58/10 | Huesca 11/1 (22:00)

When Barcelona started winning matches and hitting that good run, we all knew Atletico Madrid were in trouble despite them enjoying a 10-point gap which has been cut to three points. Barca are now back in the title race and should be confident as the pressure is on Atletico Madrid. They face rock-bottom Huesca in a must-win encounter and I don’t see them fluffing their lines in this one. Back Barcelona to Win Both Halves at 5/4.

TREBLE @ 76/10

Real Sociedad Win 7/10
Villarreal Win 5/4
Barcelona Win Both Halves 5/4
