Spanish LaLiga: Gameweek 7 Preview

It seems like we will have one of the most unpredictable La Liga seasons ever. Playing behind closed doors and not having proper pre-season seems to have affected a lot of teams and we will see even more upsets in the coming weeks.

Real Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia and Barcelona were all on the losing end in the last round. At this rate, I won’t be too surprised if we have a small team winning or at least challenging for the league. It’s the Clasico this weekend which means Barca or Los Blancos – possibly both – will again drop points.

Friday 23 October

23/10 Elche

Draw 22/10

Valencia 5/4

Elche have shown all indication they just might be the dark horses in this unpredictable La Liga season. Disregarding their defeat against Real Sociedad on the opening day, the team has remained unbeaten so far. Valencia dropped points for the fourth time this season during their previous league clash. They will visit Elche after that 2-1 loss away to Villarreal. The visitors have lost three of their opening six matches. It’s hard to trust Valencia after they sold most of their key players therefore back Both teams to Score in this match.

Saturday 24 October

Osasuna 39/20

Draw 37/20

Athletic Bilbao 17/10

Two inconsistent teams face each other to kick off Saturday’s games. Osasuna are placed 11th on the La Liga standings, winning and drawing two matches from their first five. Just like the hosts, Athletic Bilbao have won two matches and also lost three from five. I can’t separate these two teams, so, I’ll back Under 2.5 Goals at 4/10.

Barcelona 23/20

Draw 51/20

Real Madrid 22/10

Sevilla 5/10

Draw 32/10

Eibar 11/2

Sevilla have had a decent start to the La Liga season, but they’ve dropped points in their last two matches which has pulled them down to the tenth in the table. They will return home after a 1-0 loss on the road against Granada last time out.

Eibar started the season very slow, losing three and drawing one from their first four matches. The team recorded their first and only win of the season when beating Valladolid away. Sevilla can’t afford to be winless in three, especially in a season like this where they could have a realistic chance of winning. Back the hosts to return to winning ways.

Atletico Madrid 11/20

Draw  29/10

Real Betis 52/10

Atletico Madrid are the only unbeaten team in La Liga this season and if they win both their games in hand, they would top the standings. Interestingly, the hosts have conceded just one goal in four matches whilst scoring eight.

Atleti will fancy their chances this season and this is a golden opportunity for Diego Simeone to challenge for the league as Real Madrid and Barcelona both have problems. Real Betis have been very competitive under Manuel Pellegrini though they’ve shown signs of being inconsistent. The visitors have won three and lost three of their six matches this season. Back Atletico Madrid to win at all costs.

Sunday 25 October

Valladolid 27/20

Draw 18/10

Alaves 26/10

We kick off the Sunday fixtures with a low-key affair between two sides strugglers. After a promising year, Valladolid seem to have lost their magic touch. They were in contention for a spot in the Europa League the last season till the very last matchdays. However, this time around, they have made a mess of their opening games and are placed in bottom tier of the table. The hosts haven’t recorded even a single win this season, losing and drawing three from their first six. Alaves are one point above their opponents and they’ve been poor as well. Neither team can be trusted on current form, back Under 2.5 Goals at 7/20.

Cadiz 33/10

Draw 43/20

Villarreal 19/20

Cadiz stunned Real Madrid to take a 1-0 victory in their first season back in the top flight in 14 years. The newcomers unbelievably maintained their 100 percent away record when they went to Madrid and collected maximum points.

Weirdly, Cadiz are yet to win at home after losing twice and drawing the other. Villarreal are another team that will fancy their chances this season. The La Liga title is there for the taking and if they can maintain consistency, they will have a very good chance. The visitors are second on the table, tied with first-placed Real Sociedad. Like the form suggests, back Villarreal to win this one.

Getafe 9/10
Draw 2/1
Granada 4/1

Getafe have been one of the best teams this season and that doesn’t come as a surprise because of the club’s consistencies over the last few seasons. The hosts managed to beat Barcelona for the first time since 2011 which was well worth a win.

If they can maintain this form, Getafe will surely be in the UEFA Champions League next season. Granada are another team that did very well last season and they’ve started off very well. Both teams are tied on 10 points and a win here will put either team in a good position. Back Getafe to Win and Both Teams to Score.

Sociedad 11/20

Draw 29/10

Huesca 52/10

Real Sociedad are on song this season and they currently top the standing with 11 points after six games. The hosts have won three, drawn two and lost one from their matches and all three wins were 3-0 scorelines against Elche, Getafe and Real Betis.

Huesca have been the drawing kings of La Liga which include their last four matches ending in a share of the spoils and a total of five draws from six matches. Real Sociedad should be too good for Huesca.

Monday 26 October

Levante 15/10

Draw 9/4

Celta Vigo 37/20

Levante had hoped for a far better beginning to their campaign but they had to settle for four losses from five games and that has now set them back.

Celta Vigo are also in terrible form coming into this game after losing their last three matches. Only two points separate these sides and a defeat here would mean early relegation candidates. Both teams can’t afford to lose this game so back these sides to cancel each other out.

TREBLE @ 7/2

Sevilla Win 5/10

Atletico Madrid Win 11/20

Villarreal Win 19/20
