Amakhosi still enjoy a seven-point lead at the top of the table, but they have won only two of their last five league games and appear to be losing some of their momentum at a crucial time.

Second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns have two games in hand over Chiefs, which means they can close the gap to a single point with two wins.

Tinkler’s side will still play against the main title contenders before the end of the season, but he has made it clear he won’t be doing anyone any favours, and that Chiefs have hard work ahead if they intend to end their trophy drought.

“We will have a say on who will win the league title. I don’t think it’s over now because we will play the title contenders and Chiefs will still play against them,” Tinkler told the media as quoted by Isolezwe.

“I think that will benefit Chiefs but that can still hurt them. Things will be very difficult for Chiefs. They must ensure they continue to win their games.

“In our remaining games, we still have to play against Sundowns, Pirates, and Wits. We want to collect maximum points from those games because we are not here to make favours.”
