Tottenham will be targeting a return to winning ways when Ajax visit New White Hart Lane in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.
Spurs knocked out Manchester City on away goals to reach this stage of the competition but they head into the contest on the back of a 1-0 Premier League defeat to West Ham United – the first loss at their new stadium.
Tottenham have now lost three of their last four matches in all competitions and they will need significant improvement if they are going to overcome an Ajax side that has already dispatched Real Madrid and Juventus.
Mauricio Pochettino, who is aiming to guide his side to their first Champions League final, will be without the services of South Korea international Heung-min Son due to suspension.
Englishman Harry Kane is out of his protective boot and walking normally although he only has a chance of featuring again this season if Spurs manage to reach the final at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.
Jan Vertonghen and Kieran Trippier are expected to be recalled after being rested for the West Ham defeat, but the match comes too soon for Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier.
Ajax, meanwhile, head into the game on the back of four consecutive victories, scoring 13 goals and conceding six in the process, and they have suffered just one defeat from their last 15 matches in all competitions.
The Dutch outfit has won seven of their last six outings away from home while they are unbeaten in the last nine Champions League games on the road, last losing to Rostov in August 2016.
With the Eredivisie postponing a full round of fixtures prior to the semi-final, Ajax have had time to recover although Nicolas Tagliafico remains a doubt after being forced off against Vitesse last time out.
Carel Eiting is also unlikely to feature but Noussair Mazraoui is back in training following the ankle injury suffered in the second leg against Juventus and he could be available for selection.
