The aura and intrigue pursuant to the UEFA Champions League will never falter, it’s another round of the very best in Europe contending what’s become elusive for some and intrinsic for others…

Two women looking excitedly at cellphone

As always, we try and guide you through the round of fixtures, hoping to find some value lurking here and there!

Tuesday 13 September

6/1 Viktoria Plzen | Draw 39/10 | Inter Milan 4/10 (18:45)

The hosts were thrashed last time out against Barcelona and I’m not sure much changes here. Inter certainly win, I don’t think by the same sort of margin, but they certainly win. Get on.

47/20 Sporting | Draw 51/20 | Tottenham 11/10 (18:45)

In a game that could inevitably determine the top spot in their group, Sporting have an impressive-looking side, and yet, they fail to compete with English sides – winless in their last six engagements. Spurs are in a bit of a purple patch now, and I think they win here. At 11/10, you shouldn’t need too much encouragement.

11/20 Liverpool | Draw 39/10 | Ajax 42/10 (21:00)

Liverpool is on the back foot after their 4-1 thumping at the hands of Napoli. I feel a little silly having predicted Napoli on the Win/Draw Double Chance; I mean I usually have more confidence than that! Ajax has looked strong, and they come up against a side that just hasn’t had things click.

The visitors from Amsterdam have lost just twice in their last 25 European fixtures and I fancy them to get a result. I’m on the Away Win/Draw Double Chance at 5/4.

9/10 Bayern Munich | Draw 32/10 | Barcelona 49/20 (21:00)

The natural inclination here is to start flirting with that 9/10 available on the home win…but! I would caution against it. I think Bayern are going through a slight dip and this could be the right time to play them.

Barcelona have looked menacing in front of goal, even with all the off-field drama they look like a united side who have won over their often-hostile fans again. I think Barcelona gets something out of this game for sure. The Away Win/Draw Double Chance is available at 8/10

9/20 Porto | Draw 37/10 | Club Brugge 58/10 (21:00)

Much of a muchness sort of game really. If you’re looking at the odds, you would think it’s a one-sided affair. I’m not so sure it is, I think it’s a little closer.

Porto was desperately unlucky last time out against Atleti but I don’t trust their defensive ability. For me, Both Teams to Score (Yes) might make more of a claim here. Get on at 19/20.

9/10 Marseille | Draw 26/10 | Frankfurt 29/10 (21:00)

Marseille is a banker here. Their German visitors are without a goal in well forever and come into this game off the back of two straight losses.

The hosts have scored an average of more than a goal per game for the past four weeks and I think they deserve us piling on here! So, without further ado…

33/20 Leverkusen | Draw 24/10 | Atletico Madrid 33/20 (21:00)

I’m baffled by the prices available. One of these teams has won just once all season, the other is unbeaten in their last five.

Leverkusen have been terrible so far this season, they should have been well-beaten by Club Brugge last week and were saved some blushes by the officials. Atleti will want to consolidate a hard-fought win last time out and at 31/20 I am all over the away win.

Wednesday 14 September

43/20 Shakhtar | Draw 51/20 | Celtic 12/10 (18:45)

Shakhtar was incredible last time out, they are unbeaten this season and look dangerous. Celtic faces a supreme test here, their hosts will play with confidence and belief and that could spell danger for the men from Glasgow. I thought Celtic were timid against Real Madrid and I fancy a result for the hosts here. Get on.

1/4 AC Milan | Draw 5/1 | Dinamo Zagreb 11/1 (18:45)

I wouldn’t read too much into that Zagreb result against Chelsea; if anything, it is more of an outlier than anything to be concerned about. In Milan, you have a team able to outplay their visitors, the hosts are unbeaten in 13 games at home, and I don’t think the away team has what’s necessary to change that.

3/1 Rangers | Draw 28/10 | Napoli 17/20 (21:00)

I think we can take advantage of Napoli at 8/10 here. they were supreme against Liverpool and showed what they can do on the front foot.

Rangers were sloppy against a spirited Ajax and were well-beaten. I believe they might be resigned to the same fate here. Back the away side.

7/20 Chelsea | Draw 44/10 | RB Salzburg 7/1 (21:00)

This does look as though it could be a game that could earn Chelsea some self-respect, again. It isn’t the toughest challenge to baptize Graham Potter in the Champions League considering the recent performances of the visitors.

However, Chelsea has conceded in every home game stretching back to late last season and for that reason, Both Teams to Score (Yes) at 15/20 makes enough appeal.

11/20 Real Madrid | Draw 36/10 | Leipzig 42/10 (21:00)

This could be quite a tasty affair! These two teams both come into the game with confidence and a willingness to take the game to the opponent.

The hosts must be fancied of course, but I wouldn’t be bullish about their chances. Leipzig will ask questions, but I doubt they pull off the upset here. Real Madrid and Both Teams to Score (Yes) at 7/4.

51/20 Copenhagen | Draw 49/20 | Sevilla 11/10 (21:00)

A game that screams goals…I mean Copenhagen has seen more than three goals play a part in nine of their last 11 games. Sevilla’s last six games have rotated around three or more goals occurring…surely? I mean surely… Additional Totals Over 2.5 is a massive player here. Get on at 9/10.

12/10 Juventus | Draw 24/10 | Benfica 9/4 (21:00)

If the game above screams out goals, then this also screams (equal in volume) a draw. Juventus have been a little pedestrian about going through their business but have avoided defeat.

Benfica has drawn 50% of their Champions League fixtures and is happy to tuck in and make it difficult to play against a supposed strong host. I think this is a draw, but for multiples, Additional Totals Under 2.5 at 9/10 is also a player.

15/1 Maccabi Haifa | Draw 15/2 | PSG 1/7 (21:00)

What more would you like me to say here? I mean PSG thrash them surely, so back the French side to win on the -2 handicap at 19/20 and be done with it.

1/5 Manchester City | Draw 13/2 | Dortmund 12/1 (21:00)

I’m sure Dortmund would love to go to the Etihad and make a statement, but I doubt they have the capacity to do so against this City side. The German side has lost their last handful of games in the Champions League when playing in England and when you couple this sort of history with the arrival of Haaland – obviously a player they might know quite well…it becomes very one-sided.

I think this has the potential to even be a little embarrassing for the visitors, so let’s just get straight to it.

City win and Over 2.5 goals available at 9/20.
