Pep Guardiola’s treble chasers were on top from start to finish, with Madrid looking more like helpless bystanders than defending champions.

A first-half brace from Bernardo Silva put City in a commanding position at the break, before second-half goals through Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez sealed a famous 5-1 aggregate win over Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

The Sky Blues will face Inter Milan in the final at Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on 10 June.

In the meantime, they can seal the Premier League title as early as Sunday with a home win over Chelsea and can claim a first FA Cup triumph since 2019 on 3 June against Manchester United at Wembley.
