The 38-year-old Portuguese’s 89th-minute goal gave his nation a 1-0 victory over the Icelanders in Laugardalsvöllur after Willum Þór Willumsson’s sending off nine-minutes earlier. 

In so doing, Roberto Martinez’s side maintained their 100% start to their Euro Qualifying campaign after four games and currently top Group J.

Ronaldo was honoured before kick-off for becoming the first footballer to play 200 international matches.
