Writers’ Weekend Treble (3-4 June)

Check out our Writer’s Weekend Treble that equates to 47/10.

With Europe’s main football league’s out until August, we will turn our attention to the international side of the game. With the World Cup qualifiers, FIFA Confederations Cup and Gold Cup on the horizon, there is still value to be found and money to be made. And if you’re big on rugby and cricket, there is always plenty of action to look forward to, with the Super Rugby, the British and Irish Lions and Champions Trophy still ongoing!

This weekend’s treble consists of two Super Rugby tips, while our in-house footy writer is sticking to what he knows – football – backing the USA to come out on top against Venezuela in an international friendly.

Writer: Darry Worthington
Pick: Hurricanes (-20.5) 9/10 (Super Rugby)

Western Force 8/1 | Draw 35/1 | Hurricanes 1/20
The Hurricanes will be desperate to claim the full five-point haul here to keep the pressure on the Australasian Conference-leading Crusaders. They come into this one off the back of a solid showing against the hapless Bulls and they will have Beauden Barrett pulling the strings again after the fly-half recovered from a minor niggle that saw him sit out of the ‘Canes’ Loftus assignment.

While the men from Wellington have a formidable starting XV, I’m basing my tip on the bench quality they have at their disposal. I’m expecting the likes of Milner-Skudder, Otere Black and Ardie Savea to run the Force rampant during the final quarter of the game.

Darry’s Treble @ 58/10
Crusaders (-7.5) v Highlanders 9/10 (Super Rugby)
Waratahs (+16.5) v Chiefs 9/10 (SuperRugby)
Hurricanes (-20.5) v Force 9/10 (SuperRugby)

Writer: Aaron Crowie
Pick: USA 6/10 (International Friendly)

Aaron Crowie - Hollywoodbets Sports Blog Writer

USA 6/10 | Draw 26/10 | Venezuela 5/1
The USA are unbeaten in their four matches played this year, scoring seven goals while conceding once. A goalless draw in a friendly against Serbia was followed by wins against Jamaica (friendly) and Honduras (WCQ), and a draw against Panama (WCQ).

Their opponents, Venezuela, are bottom of the 10-team South America zone World Cup Qualifying standings. They’ve lost 10 of their 14 qualifiers, winning just once. The USA are a top bet for the weekend at 6/10.

Aaron’s Treble @ 57/10
USA Win v Venezuela 6/10 (International Friendly)
Belgium Win v 5/10 Czech Republic
(International Friendly)
Juventus Win v Real Madrid 18/10 (UEFA Champions League Final)

Writer: Jason Dewey
Pick: Crusaders (-7.5) 9/10 (Super Rugby)

Jason Dewey - Hollywoodbets Sports Blog Writer

Crusaders 1/3 | Draw 22/1 | Highlanders 22/10
The Crusaders have enjoyed a barnstorming season so far, winning all 13 of their matches and clearing the handicap nine times in all. They come up against a Highlanders side this weekend who haven’t looked as strong as they have in the last two seasons. The men from Otago are definitely missing the creativity of Lima Spopaga at pivot. The All Black fly-half is only fit enough for the bench this week. Back the Crusaders to use their set-piece dominance to clear a modest 7.5 handicap in Christchurch this weekend.

Jason’s Treble @ 7/2
Crusaders (-7.5) v Highlanders 9/10 (Super Rugby)
Hurricanes (-20.5) v Force 9/10 (Super Rugby)
South Africa Win v Sri Lanka 27/100 (Champions Trophy)
