Zulu still in the dark about Chiefs future

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Philani Zulu remains out of the loop regarding his future at the Soweto giants, according to his agent Saheed Adebayo.

The 27-year-old left-back has found regular game time difficult to come by under head coach Ernst Middendorp this season, with the German preferring Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya and Yagan Sasman in the starting lineup.

Zulu’s agent has revealed that it remains unclear whether Amakhosi will be opening negotiations with his client over a new contract, but believes it will be resolved once the league returns from the current COVID-19 lockdown.

“At this point in time, I don’t know what is going to happen with Zulu at Chiefs since the league was suspended,” Adebayo told DailySun.

“Bobby Motaung [Chiefs football manager] has not mentioned anything to me if the club will renew his contract. But I think things will become clearer when the season resumes.”

Zulu signed for Chiefs from Maritzburg United in 2017. He has made only three league appearances this season.
