Selected Second Round Matches
Venus Williams 3/10 verse Sara Errani 26/10
Venus Williams takes on Sara Errani in this second-round encounter. The world number 81 breezed through her first-round match against Belgian Kirsten Flipkens. The now 40-year old seven-time Grand Slam winner is currently ranked number 81 in the world, she takes Sara Errani who is the current world number 134. Errani fought hard to win her first-round match against Georgina García Pérez, winning in three sets. The pair have met four times in the past, the latest of which coming at the 2014 US Open with Williams coming out on top three out of the four times.
Selection: Williams should be able to win this quite comfortably however at 3/10 there isn’t much value, hence the selection is to take the best out of three sets score 2:0 in Williams’s favour at 7/10.
Alexander Zverev 1/20 verse Maxime Cressy 8/1
World number 172 takes Maxime Cressy takes on sixth seed German tennis sensation Alexander Zverev in this second-round tie. Cressy hasn’t had much success at Grand Slams with his best finish prior to this coming at the 2020 US Open when making it to the second round. He made easy work of Japanese Taro Daniel in the first round brushing him aside in straight sets, however, he faces much stronger here in the form of Zverev. The man who was within touching distance of winning his first Grand Slam at the US Open last year is one of the leading contenders for this year’s crown. In his first-round encounter he was dealt an early blow when losing the first set, but his class pulled through afterwards as he then breezed on by to win the next three sets.
Selections: Zverev should really win this comfortably, however, the 1/20 on offer is too short, hence the selection is to take the best out of five sets score 3:0 in Zverev’s favour at 5/10.
