YARMOUTH

Race 5 No4 GEARING’S POINT (Nap)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Frederick Larson

GEARING’S POINT stands out as a winner without a penalty following her luckless passage at Windsor last week. The Harbour Watch mare appeared to be cantering over her rivals but though her pilot showed patience a gap failed to materialise, and when she was switched to the outer the birds had flown. This is a trappy card for betting, but she is an outstanding proposition.

HAYDOCK PARK

Race 3 No8 WATCHA MATEY (Each Way)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: William Buick

The best of the action is at this meeting, with WATCHA MATEY likely to step up on his pleasing Chester introduction. The son of Land Force retains the hood he wore on the Roodee and can step up on that fourth place behind Politico.

Race 4 No6 PHONE TAG
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Tom Marquand

Another interesting runner for the Palmer stable is PHONE TAG. The son of go-to sire Havana Grey shaped well to take home a minor cheque on his Newbury introduction and has gone forward in his work at home. He’s in an open-looking heat, but can definitely earn.

Race 6 No5 QUANTUM LIGHT (Each Way)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Hector Crouch

Regal Fanfare has run well in easy underfoot conditions but the terrain will be a lot different this afternoon. She should get into the shake-up, but at a bigger price I prefer to row in with QUANTUM LIGHT, who doesn’t know how to run a bad race. True, she’s had a few chances, but her comeback second to Flame Spitit at Wolverhampton was highly encouraging, while she won’t mind operating over a slightly shorter distance either.

Race 7 No3 COVERDALE (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

The best bet of the day is COVERDALE. The Expert Eye gelding has dominated both handicaps he’s contested at Redcar and Nottingham and is only 2lb higher than for his latest snug triumph. He receives 3lb from Greek Order and in what looks a two-horse affair can down that rivals and complete a fine hat-trick.

NEWTON ABBOT

Race 4 No2 CLEAR THE RUNWAY
Trainer: Laura Morgan – Jockey: Adam Wedge

CLEAR THE RUNWAY was a fine example of his trainer’s natural skills when winning four of his five outings over hurdles and fences last season. He’s a summer jump enthusiast’s dream, and though underwhelming when last seen at Cheltenham in the autumn is ready to make this an impressive eight success from his last 11 starts.

Race 5 No4 PRINCESS MIDNIGHT (Nap)
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Brendan Powell

Though easy to back, PRINCESS MIDNIGHT soon had most of her rivals in trouble on seasonal return at Stratford. Though overhauled by Admiral’s Sunset, the race will have brought her on, and her bold jumping from the front can be utilised to telling effect round this tight track.

HAMILTON PARK

Race 6 No1 SOUL SEEKER (Nap)
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Jason Watson

Another card where it can pay to tread carefully, SOUL SEEKER is the only advice. He’s been knocking on the door with three consecutive earning runs on turf. He deserves the door to open, and it can.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 5 No6 HOLY FIRE (Each Way)
Trainer: Charlie Fellowes – Jockey: Rob Hornby

Fellowes has a good chance of bagging this 3yo only handicap with Ripon maiden scorer Tawalla, but that colt has to contend with an outside draw, making stablemate HOLY FIRE a more attractive wagering proposition. This filly by Unfortunately hasn’t done much wrong in finishing in the money in all three starts including a success here last month. She was narrowly denied when a shade of odds-on at Lingfield but is berthed in the perfect place to bounce back.

Race 7 No3 IMPERIAL CULT (Each Way)
Trainer: Rachel & Bridger – Jockey: Gina Mangan

The lightly-raced IMPERIAL CULT hinted that he will soon be visiting the winner’s circle with an earning run on handicap bow and debut for the Bridgers at Lingfield. He responded positively to the application of a hood, and granted a little progression can open his account.

Place Accumulator Perm (Races 2-8)

7, 1 x 6, 5 x 4, 5 x 6, 8, 4 x 4, 10, 1 x 7, 3 x 7, 11
