Maritzburg United are determined to quickly regain their position in the DStv Premiership after being relegated last season.
To achieve this goal, they have officially announced the appointment of Zipho Dlangalala as their new head coach.
Following the departure of Faldu Davids, who has joined Raja Athletic as an assistant coach under former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer, Dlangalala steps in with the mission of leading the team back to the top flight.
Dlangalala brings valuable experience to the role, having previously served as the coach of the South African U-16 side. He also worked as an assistant coach and later as a caretaker manager at TS Galaxy and coached University of Pretoria, and was part of Orlando Pirates’ youth academy coaching setup.

Maritzburg shared a statement on Twitter, announcing that Dlangalala has signed a one-year contract and has been entrusted with the task of restoring the club’s position in the DStv Premiership after their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship during the PSL Promotion/Relegation playoffs.

“Maritzburg United Football Club is pleased to introduce Ziphozonke Dlangalala, affectionately known as Zipho, as our new head coach.
“Zipho, who previously served as the assistant coach at Mamelodi Sundowns, Chippa United, and head coach at Pretoria University, emerged as the top candidate after a thorough recruitment process.
“The board of directors firmly believes that Zipho possesses the right qualifications to guide the team in their journey back to the PSL.
“A one-year contract has been finalized, with the objective of securing promotion back to the PSL.”
With Dlangalala leading the way, Maritzburg aim to revitalize their fortunes and swiftly return to the DStv Premiership.
