Swallows FC have officially secured the services of Andile Jali, following his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns at the conclusion of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.
Putting an end to months of speculation surrounding the talented midfielder’s future, the news has been met with excitement.
Previously linked with clubs such as Swallows FC, Orlando Pirates, and Stellenbosch FC, Jali, 33, was also said to be a target for Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
The confirmation arrived as Swallows announced the signing of Jali, bringing the highly experienced midfielder to Soweto on a two-year contract. Jali had become a free agent after his contract with Sundowns expired last season.
Reuniting with Steve Komphela, who recently joined Swallows from Sundowns, Jali expressed his reasons for choosing the club. In his own words, “I said to Mike (Makaab), I don’t wanna leave Joburg, so it’s better I stay in Joburg.”

Makaab, confirmed the two-year deal. Mogashoa also expressed his excitement about the signing, hinting at the possibility of an extended partnership.
Jali’s arrival adds a significant boost to the Soweto side, with his wealth of experience and decorated career, which includes six DStv Premiership titles, one Nedbank Cup, and three MTN8 Cups.
