Matsatsantsa have been actively engaged in the transfer market, successfully securing talented players like Grant Margeman, Terrence Dzvukamanja, Phathutshedzo Nange, and Siphesihle Ndlovu.

Hunt confidently stated that he now possesses a well-equipped squad, one that is more adept at competing at the highest level.

“At the start of the season, everybody feels they are better, irrespective of where they are located in the world, and they believe they are on the right track,” Hunt asserted during a media interaction.

“The squad exudes immense energy and youthfulness, but we must remember that this alone does not translate into points on the board. We need to gain experience on the field, play matches, and only then can we assess our progress. Last year, we faced challenges in the beginning due to numerous players coming in and leaving.”

Reflecting on the arrival of players like Grant Margeman, Phathutsedzo Nange, and Terrence Dzvukamanja, Hunt acknowledged the initial difficulty in integrating them into the team but now feels more confident about their roles on the pitch.

“With the benefit of time and training, I now have a clearer understanding of players like Grant, Phathutsedzo, and Terrence. Each game presents different scenarios, and I know how to utilize their abilities effectively,” Hunt explained.

As the new season looms two weeks away, Hunt anticipates a highly competitive campaign, with several teams aiming to break Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance in the DStv Premiership.

“Sundowns has developed a successful formula, investing in their ambitions. Other teams, such as Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, have made significant signings this year, strengthening their squads. Cape Town City consistently remains a competitive force as well, setting the stage for a fiercely contested season,” Hunt stated.

The coach emphasized the need to perform better against lower-ranked teams, as that aspect proved challenging in the previous season. SuperSport displayed remarkable performances against top-tier opponents, but improvement against lower-ranked teams is crucial to their aspirations.

With a well-rounded squad and a determined spirit, SuperSport under Gavin Hunt’s guidance are ready to take on the upcoming season, eager to create a lasting impact in the DStv Premiership
