The Glamor Boys commenced their 2023/24 campaign yesterday with a goalless draw at Moses Mabhida Stadium, where they faced off against Chippa United. Coach Molefi Ntseki’s side struggled to trouble the Chilli Boys’ defense, managing just three shots on target.

New signing Ranga Chivaviro made his debut for Amakhosi, but he failed to make a significant impact on the game, appearing isolated. Speaking after the match, Kaizer Chiefs’ mentor wasted no time in expressing his discontent with his team’s attacking performance.

“I believe, as I mentioned, that entries into the final third are extremely crucial for securing victories.”

“If you cannot achieve victory through combinations and penetrations, as I have previously stated, you must capitalize on set plays. I cannot proclaim satisfaction with our front three and our entries into the final third, as we needed to generate more scoring opportunities and convert a greater number of those chances.”

“Moreover, considering that Ranga played for the first time since joining the team and was not at his physical best due to a recent medical situation, we can use this situation as a foundation for enhancing our comprehension of the front three’s dynamics. We need to refine our movements, devise methods for outmaneuvering opponents, and establish the means to create scoring opportunities.”

“As a result, it is imperative for us to acknowledge that we must revisit and enhance our entries into the final third. This will enable us to amass more goals and foster additional chances,” he remarked.

Kaizer Chiefs are set to journey to Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium for their second match against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns this upcoming Wednesday. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 in the afternoon.
